~Our Little Gaurd Dog~

The gardeners came this morning and she was being super protective! So freaking adorable!!!

~My Perfect Saturday~

- Slept in till 12:00 (yikes)

- Watched John & Kate Plus 8 Marathon

- Took our puppy to the dog park for the first time and hung out with a good friend and her two dogs!

- Cuddling up in bed with the hubby to watch a movie and fall asleep!

~Emergency Rooms, Ambulances and School~

I had to rush Darren to the hospital last Tuesday night. He woke up that morning with flu like symptoms and stayed in bed all day with a high fever. It was horrible. By the time we were getting ready for bed we took a look at his foot just to see how it was healing and we noticed there was puss coming out the bottom as well as this red line that traveled up the top of his foot all the way to the ankle. We didn't want to risk anything so we left right away and it is a good thing that we did because the doctor took one look at his foot and admitted him immediately.

They transfered him from West Hills hospital to Northdrige hospital in an ambulance. It broke my heart seeing him on the gurney being taken away. Watching your loved one in pain and in an ambulance....ahhh not something you really want to go through and not something I care to repeat again! By the time they got him in his room he had already had a full bad of iv antibiotics and about 10 bottles of blood drawn from him. And that's how it was the rest of the night for him. Being poked and prodded and miserable. I got home about 4:30 in the morning, enough time to grab a few hours of sleep and head back to the hospital.

With the antibiotics in him he started feeling better but still had a fever and his foot was still very oozy. They said he would be staying there for a couple of days until they got the infection under control. The worst part was they did not know if the infection was in the bone or in just the skin and we had to wait over a day for the results from the MRI. Thankfully, it was not in the bone and he did not need surgery (our biggest fear) But the infection was a really bad one. The ended up sending him home on Thursday afternoon, sooner than we thought, and told him to just stay off of his foot and rest, which is what he has been doing.

Darren is feeling so much better and we want to thank everyone for their prayers and concerns. We felt so loved during this time, it was wonderful! We still have a lot of doctors appointments to go to since this incident but thankfully im only working 2 days a week for the next two weeks until school starts back up again. So I have plenty of time to take him.

Speaking of school, I registered for my classes yesterday and will officially start school this September. I am so excited. I spoke with a councilor to make sure the classes I am taking coincide with the degree I am going for and they do, which is great. Darren will be joining me as well. Not at the same school but at an occupational school across the street. As soon as I was done with the councilor we headed over to his school to register him in an air-conditioning class. He is really excited to start and learn some new things as well as just getting out of the house and hopefully making some new friends. With Darren not being able to drive here, going to school gives him that extra bit of independence that he is really needing and I am so happy for him.

Life has been busy and a bit stressful, especially with Darren being so sick. But things are still good. We have so much to be thankful for and everyday I get to wake up to the most amazing man laying next to me. How could I not be happy! Things are moving forward and we are both starting new adventures. Its been great and I know things can only get better!

~Back To School~

For those of you who know, I work for the Los Angeles Unified School District as a Special Ed Trainee. I am pretty much a teachers assistant but don't make the same pay as assistants do. After working a year in my class this past year and subbing for summer school at my moms school, I have been told multiple times that I should become a teacher. To be honest with you, all growing up I said the one thing I would never like to be is a teacher because I was never good at school growing up and doing anything involved with "school" was NOT something I wanted for my future.

In order to go from a Trainee to an Assistant I have to have 12 units in either Child Development or Psychology. The more I thought about it and the longer I worked this past year the more I realized that I found my niche. I love special ed! I love the kids, the work, seeing them grow and learn. It is something I want to do for a long time. The more its been on my heart the more I thought that if im going to school for the 12 units I might as well just go for my teaching degree. I always regretted not finishing school and wished I had my degree. But at the time I honestly did not know what I wanted to do for school.

The more I talked to Darren about it the more he encouraged me to really do it. Knowing that he supports me 110% in this really gave me that extra motivation to really just do it. On top of that this will be a financially wise decision. Teachers make fairly descent money and that is something I have to have, a good paying job. Even better, when we do have kids, we will be on the same schedule. When they go to school I start work, when they get out of school I get off work. It is pretty ideal. I know its going to be a long process and I don't have the full-time hours to put towards a full load, but I know I will get there. Since we don't have kids at this time and don't plan on having kids probably for a few more years, now is the perfect time for this new adventure. And the best part is that I am actually excited about it.

On Saturday I took an Assessment Test for math and English to see where I will be placed. The English was easy but the math, oi! It's crazy how much you forget in 9 years! I am meeting with a Guidance Councilor this week to talk about my classes and which will be the best to start with and what all I need and about how long it will realistically take me. When I was in high school I hated it. I was not into school in any way shape or form except for theater and choir, but now I feel like im ready. I know how to apply myself, I know which ways of learning work best for me and even though I am little intimidated, I am truly excited and can't wait to start this new journey into our future together!
